Today’s Top 5 Tuesday post was a surprisingly easy list. Over the last few years, I developed a habit of stopping in the middle of series I started. As such, there are a lot I want to finish this year. The series on this list are ones I will likely get to, but if I don’t, I won’t make a huge fuss.
Those series are:
Disney Twisted Tales series

The Disney Twisted Tales series is one I am particularly itching to catch up with in 2023. So far, I enjoyed each installment more than the last. They are super fun to read. Plus, the next book in the series is a retelling of the original Pinocchio movie—When You Wish Upon a Star—and centers on the Blue Fairy.
Wicked Villains series by Katee Robert

Technically, Wicked Villains is one of those series where I don’t need to read the books in order. In fact, I read the finale, Queen Takes Rose, in 2021. At the time, I was just dipping my toes into BDSM erotica. I’m still very much a novice, but Katee Robert’s Disney Villains inspired series seems like a good place to start.
If I Tell You the Truth by Jasmin Kaur

If I Tell You the Truth is the companion/sequel to When You Ask Me Where I’m Going. While it was one of my most disappointing reads of 2022, the reviews for the sequel have been much better. If I Tell You the Truth follows a daughter, the product of a rape, trying to save her mother from being deported back to India. I will be disappointed if, like its predecessor, this book is not what I hope it to be.
The Sea King by C.L. Wilson

The Sea King is the sequel/companion to The Winter King, a deeply underrated fantasy romance. According to Goodreads, there is a third book, The Jaguar King, coming out in the series…in 2030. But there was no cover or even a synopsis last I checked. As such, The Sea King will wrap up the series until then.
An Encore of Roses by S.T. Gibson

I went back and forth on whether or not I wanted to read An Encore of Roses. It is listed as a “sequel” to A Dowry of Blood, but it is fourteen pages of fluff published on a public website by the author. I’ve avoided it, until I was delightfully surprised to find out there is, potentially, a sequel coming out in 2024. And, if I had to guess, it is a dark academia following one of the brides. I don’t need to know anything else.
What is a series you want to finish in 2023?
